SURF BOARDROOM
SURF LEAGUE

DATE: Saturday 11 October

Surf League first ran back in 1986 and ever since it has been a breeding ground for stoke and excitement amongst WA boardriders clubs who’ll converge on Scarborough Beach to compete for over $6,000 in cash and prizes.The Surf Boardroom Surf League embodies what Australian sport is all about; mateship, team spirit, loyalty and unbelievable camaraderie.

Surf League’s unique competition format will see clubs nominate their six strongest surfers (4 x open age surfers, 1 x Over-35 master, and 1 x Under-18 junior), with each surfer’s best two scores added together for an overall team total.

2025 celebrates the 33rd year that The Surf Boardroom will be supporting this iconic event that has become a rite of passage for many of WA’s best and most aspiring surfers.

GROUNDSWELL SURF COMPETITION

DATE: Sunday 12 October
TIME: 8am - 2pm
LOCATION: Scarborough Beach

Continuing the long running partnership with Surfing WA, the Groundswell Surf Comp is a celebration of local community talent and spirit for the sport in a friendly Mate vs. Mate format. From first comp to seasoned pro, all ages and skill levels are welcome to join their division and ride the Scarborough waves for a chance at winning some serious prizes, thanks to Cordingleys Surf.

GROUNDSWELL GRIND

DATE: Sunday 12 October
TIME: 9am - 5pm
LOCATION: Skate Bowl

The Groundswell Grind skateboard bowl competition will see skateboarders of all ages and skill levels roll in one of Australia's biggest bowls.

The Scarborough Beach Bowl will be the centre point for the Groundswell Festival in a spectacle of grinds, slides, high airs and tricks that will carve up the competition. With categories for 9 years and under, 12 years and under, 16 years and under and the open class in both men’s and women’s along with the masters class for riders over 35 years there is a spot for all competitors. The open men’s and women’s class will share in a prize purse of $3,000!

This is one action packed competition you don't want to miss.

BMX BOWL BATTLE

DATE: Saturday 11 October
TIME: 10am - 1pm
LOCATION: Skate Bowl

The Groundswell BMX bowl battle will see BMX riders compete in the biggest skatepark bowl this side of the universe. Competitors can either choose to enter the RAD or the RADDEST classes to battle it out for their share of the prizes and $1,000 prize money. Riders will have to make their way through qualifying rounds to make it to the battle finals. The importance of qualifying on top plays a key role in the battle finals. The lower placed qualifiers have to battle it out to make their way to the top to have a chance to take the win. In the battle finals if competitors are not staying on top of the competition they are dropped out until a winner triumphs. 

This is one action pack competition you don't want to miss. Will the Australian BMX freestyle champion Sam Grace return to claim the 1st place again. Be there to find out.

3X3 STREETBALL
STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Get ready to turn up the heat this summer because 3x3 streetball is back and bigger than ever at the beach! Basketball WA is once again joining forces with Groundswell Festival to bring fast paced 3x3 action to the iconic Scarborough Beach Foreshore.

Groundswell continues to be WA’s ultimate youth festival, celebrating street culture in the heart of a stunning coastal setting. Expect a jam-packed weekend filled with high-energy 3x3 basketball, surfing, skating, and BMX competitions, plus live DJs, street art, stunt shows, food trucks, markets, and loads of free activities. Our 3x3 Streetball event is open to male and female athletes in the U14, U16, and U21 divisions (U18 inclusive).
