GROUNDSWELL GRIND

The Groundswell Grind skateboard bowl competition will see skateboarders of all ages and skill levels roll in one of Australia's biggest bowls.

The Scarborough Beach Bowl will be the centre point for the Groundswell Festival in a spectacle of grinds, slides, high airs and tricks that will carve up the competition. With categories for 9 years and under, 12 years and under, 16 years and under and the open class in both men’s and women’s along with the masters class for riders over 35 years there is a spot for all competitors. The open men’s and women’s class will share in a prize purse of $3,000!

This is one action packed competition you don't want to miss.

GROUNDSWELL RAIL JAM

DATE: Saturday 11 October
TIME: 4pm - 7pm
LOCATION: Skate Park

BMX scooter and skateboard riders will compete against other riders in their discipline and their own determination by sending the best trick down or over the rail or stair at the Scarborough beach skatepark. This is a very technical competition that takes place in a very loose format over a 40 minute time frame. Each competitor will have the opportunity to throw down their best trick with the hopes that no one will beat it. It’s back and forth with the skills until there is one final winner, the one who will shut down the rail. Whatever your wheels are, you will be able to get involved. Watch as Perth’s best riders send it down the rail with some crazy tricks. Who will be the first to shut down the rail with their set? This is something you want to be a part of either as a spectator or as a participant.

GROUNDSWELL ROLLERSKATE DEMONSTRATION

Get ready to roll with this epic rollerskate demonstration! Watch as skilled skaters take to the Scarborough Skatepark and showcase their impressive moves, spins, and tricks on wheels. From graceful glides to daring flips, this demonstration will leave you amazed and inspired. Whether you're a seasoned skater or just curious to see some incredible roller-skating skills you’ll wanna check this one out…

“HAVE A GO” SESSIONS

DATE: Saturday 11 October
TIME: 10am - 1pm
LOCATION: Upper level Scarborough Beach skate park

Freestyle Now are hosting drop in “have a go” coaching sessions as part of Groundswell Festival for skateboard, scooter, rollerskate and BMX participants of all ages and skill levels. Taking place on the upper level of the Scarborough beach skatepark, these sessions will focus on all aspects of skate park participation, from technical tips and tricks, to skatepark etiquette, safety, confidence and more.

Spaces are limited. First come, first served.
